Home Repairs Program
Safe, Quality Home Repairs at No Cost to You
The Habitat East Polk Repair Program is provided at no cost to the homeowner. Eligible projects generally fall into the following categories:
Dwelling Safety: Repairs that address immediate hazards to the structure or environment of the home.
Occupant Health: Repairs that improve the health and well-being of residents (e.g., plumbing, electrical, accessibility modifications)
Home Preservation: Repairs that maintain the livability and durability of the home (e.g., roofing, windows, doors, exterior improvements)
Other Repairs: Considered in the case of emergency situations when designated funding is available to support such work
Habitat East Polk will ensure that all repair work is:
Completed in full compliance with applicable local building codes and accessibility standards
Performed in a good and workmanlike manner
Completed using durable materials
Consistent with industry standards
Please note: Grant funding for home repairs sometimes requires that preference be given to certain geographic areas or specific population groups, as determined by the funding source.
Important note: Habitat East Polk will not consider mold remediation, asbestos removal, major foundation or structural repairs, repairs on manufactured homes (except when supported by dedicated funding), or any work on homes not occupied by the owner.
Roofing note: Roof repair or replacement requests will be evaluated based on the year of last replacement and the current condition of the roof. Not all roofing needs may qualify under Habitat’s repair guidelines.
